We have also payed Rs 3000 for the same reason as the traffic police at Hero Honda chownk, gurgaon charged us by applying wrong chalans just because we were doing car pooling. Even in traffic rules book of driving licence its written that we should do car pooling, on radio, tv everywhere we are encouraged for car pooling but the traffic police is not allowing to do this. I reached the RTO office near powai and showed them the docs. But i however had recently renewed my insurance and hence it wasn't with my at that moment. So they demanded 1300 rs for that. Had to give it away since I was in a hurry. It was later that I realized that the fee for insurance was only 300 Rs and the police had cheated me.

The issue here is lack of transparency.

I think the RTO offices should have a list of offenses and the charges we have to pay for those offenses.

Even now there are a lot of people who cant waste their important time bargaining against the cops. The people whose sole duty is to protect the citizens are openly looting in RTO offices.

But when I visited the office, I was asked to also bring the original rental agreement for the period beginning 3 years ago. The official called me for a total of 6 times in 3 days, demanding one new document with each visit, and not using any of those documents in the actual application. He was very very rude to the other people as well. I had to take an uncle who spoke the local language along to get the official to speak properly. At that time, he said that my documents were verified but that I needed to come the next day with another new document. Then the next day, he openly demanded a bribe of Rs. 1500 and refused to budge. My landowner was leaving out of town that weekend, so I had to relent. I could not make myself do it so asked my landowner to do it. The official was so corrupt that he did not even step out of the office to collect the bribe. They are playing with people's lives and destroying their peace of mind. For this fact alone, such officials will get a lot of bad wishes from all the honest citizens.

I did go and after filling up the forms he asked for bribe to submit the verification form of mine and my brother's immediately. I really was in a hurry to receive my passport and finish all formalities as I was preparing for a overseas trip, so I had to give in. Even after doing that my brother's passport arrived after nearly a month even though it was also applied in the tatkal scheme

At last I was about to contact the SP, but other people over there did not let me enter his office. They settled it with the Writer and asked me to pay Rs.900 at last. I came penny less from police station. They snatched away all the cash I had in my pocket. This happened in Vivek Nagar Police station, Bangalore on 22nd May 2013.
