I had the unfortunate incident of being forced to pay a bribe at Rajiv ********** Intl airport, Hyderabad. I brought two laptops with me (a personal one which I planned to take back and one as a gift). It is my understanding that one laptop can be imported into India but the customs officer would have none of it. In his own words he mentioned that the duty is levied by Govt and the amount is fixed by the Govt. Having arrived in India without much money (plus I had to buy a domestic flight ticket) I told him I cannot pay the Rs. 5000 custom duty for the laptop. The officer (K. Srinivasa **********) quickly said "well how much can you pay" and he took $40 from me and signed the customs form saying that I am not carrying any dutiable items. This was done in full view of other airport personnel. Suggesting that the whole gang at the airport exit is involved in the show.
I went to collect my Income Tax pending amount for the year 2007-2008 and it was 12,000 Rs and to get that I have to pay 2000 RS bribe and 1 day leave for office.

I dont want to disclose any names here. My neighbor son took his dad's car and went for boozing with his friend's. After Having Much booze he took his car and went on a drive with his friends in ECR road.
On his way he killed a 8 year old kid by hitting him in the car. During that time he didn't have a driving license. They spent more than 1.5laks to divert the case on some anonymous person(driver) name. This happened just to make sure they get all insurance benefits for the kid death and the kid's parent are paid for their kid's Death. There was no other way my neighbor could do this to save his son. This happens in many places. We cant stop people paying bribes.
I had applied for a passport sometime in mid-2009. That was a time when the issue of passports was mired in controversies as people claimed they had been kept waiting for more than a year before being issued their passports. A friend of mine had to wait one and half year to get his passport. He told me that was because he refused to bribe the police official who comes home to verify the ID and address of the individual. So, after i had applied for the passport and my verification officer came home, I paid him 600 rupees and I got my passport within a month. i am shameful of what i did but as my future was at stake, i was applying for a degree in a foriegn university, i needed the passport urgently and so i had to give in.
When I was doing B.Tech, applied for passport. After few weeks Police constable called my father and said coming to Narasaraopet for verification. He demanded bribe openly and asked my father and me to come to police stattion, as it is a safe place for him for taking bribe. We reached policestation and my father given him Rs.500 .This is first time I have seen bribing in *******
