There is a big corruption scheme underway at this marriage registrar office. The registrar colluded with a street vendor behind the office and uses the vendor to collect kickbacks in order to process marriage certificates. The officer at the registrar accepts and processes only those applicants who paid kickbacks to the vendor.

I parked my bike on the pavement in front of HDFC bank on CMH Road,Indiranagar. There were already atleast 15bikes on the pavement and there was no reason for me to believe it was a No-Parking zone.Neither did the security guys of the bank advice me against it.
A few minutes into my work one of the guys ran down to take his bike since there was a Tiger towing vehicle that was picking up all the bikes parked on the pavement.I went down too only to see my bike being lifted onto the van. When i requested the inspector in charge to instruct his guys to get the bike down and i'd pay the fine of 100rs he dint agree and insisted i go to the police station which is easily 5-6kms from the bank.
Once i was there i was asked to pay 300rs!100rs no parking violation fine+100rs govt towing charge+100rs private towing charge. All this when i'd have paid only 100rs had the inspector agreed to collect the fine near the bank itself.
I told the ppl there i'd pay only 100rs and the bargaining started.I told them I work for the press and they wouldn't get away with this. Finally the inspector asked me to pay 150rs.I was still adamant I'd pay only 100rs and started calling my colleagues in the media.Thats when he got a little scared and agreed to take 100rs and gave me the receipt and my bike.
Chennai is a city where I used to have some respect for the policemen, since they appeared not to be unnecessarily demanding for bribes, unlike other places such as Ahmedabad where I have been to. But the myth was broken when I was riding as a pillion on my bike with my friend, who wanted to test drive my Karizma ZMR on the way to office. On the way to office, there are two signals, hardly 20m apart. Both signals showed red light, but it being quite late at night (close to 11.30 PM), my friend pushed forward to the second signal and stopped there behind a truck, as there was almost zero traffic. The policemen, who I have seen generally harassing people at this time of the night, got into action. My friend refused to pay the Rs. 300 demanded by the policeman, since we had all the relevant papers and he was also wearing the helmet. After all, they don't even catch the people who jump signals in broad daylight when the traffic is at its peak. At this time of the night, it was even no use keeping the traffic signals alive; people have that much sense of traffic!! So the policeman later sent us a penalty note of Rs. 1050/- later on to my office address. But of course, after this incident, I doubt if those policemen were really for their duty or for harassing innocent people. Also, I doubt if it would have been better had we settled the case for Rs. 100/- or so.
I lost my wallet on the Bangalore streets and my PAN card was also in it.Went to report the FIR for the same on the same day.. after I have filed the FIR and the got it signed from the officer on duty and was about to take leave, he asked me "where is my fee"..I said I don't have any money as I have lost my wallet. He called the officer who sitting outside and started pointing at me..I felt very uncomfortable and gave the last 50 rs. that I have in my pocket. then they let me go.
I am originally from west bengal.I did my masters from IIT Madras. There(Chennai) I applied for my passport about the end of my 1st year(early 2008). They informed me for permanent address verification all the documents were sent to west bengal. After completion of 1st year I came to home in holiday, it was almost 3 months after my application, still police didn't come to my home to verify my permanent address. So I went to district IB(intelligence bureau)office in Chinsurah. The IB officers nowdays are responsible for passport related issues. Ultimately I met the appropriate authority who was an young officer.First day he behaved very nicely and searched all the files if the documents had reached to his office or not. I also checked the registered book whether my name was there or not. But it was not there.I informed him that after one week I would leave for Chennai. He told me to come after 2days. When I went again to his office he politely informed me that he searched in other files but really the documents didn't come to his office. Since that was a big room and other office staffs were sitting in other part of the room he calmly showed his right palm(indicating 500 rupees)and asked me to decide if I would like to pay that amount to get my passport without permanent address verified or otherwise to go through in normal process which suppose to take more time. Then only I decided not to pay a single money, but I didn't tell anything to him and simply came back to home. After coming back to Chennai I went to passport office to inquire the status of my passport.Still they informed that all the documents were sent to west bengal but didn't come back.My GRE ********** was very near, for that I needed the passport. After few days I took the GRE application printout and requested for urgent processing in passport office. Regional passport officer met with me and assured that within 14 days I will get that.Ultimately after 20 days, before 10 days of my exam passport reached to my hostel. So ultimately honestly I got my passport without paying a single paise as a bribe.
i was said to write a letter to head of that station(about what i lost and what it contained) and pay money at e-**********, the invoice should be attached along with the letter and submitted at the reception counter in the police station. i was said to come after a period of 24 hours. when i went to station about the issue , they said me to pay Rupees 150 to the person who gave me the certificate of loss, when i asked for the invoice he replied "isey cheesonko chaalan nahe dethey beta". I was shocked after knowing the way they behaved with me, filthy jack arses. Because, i have already paid my money at e-********** (gov org where all taxes and bills are paid).
