In order to apply for Graduate Studies abroad, I had to obtain Transcripts of undergraduate degree. In order to do so, I had to pay bribe to Registrar of College. For each transcript, I paid about Rs. 500 and applied to 4 universities abroad. That was the only option available back then in order to move forward with my career goals. Hope it has stopped now.
While constructing our house with valid map which was sancationed by the Municipal corporation, we still had to pay 3000 Rs to the local JDA engineer. This was just a bribe. Without that money he was not ready to let our construction continue.. Then again when the officer changed, again we had to pay Rs. 3000
I had completed my driving lessons and on the day of test, I was sitting for both motorbike and car driving test. Rs.200 was paid to the RT Office peon at Yeswantpur and I was directed to the Mysore Lamps Road where the test used to happen. My friend gave the Assistant RTO the documents which had a Rs.500 note in it as advised. For the 'test' I was made to drive up and down a 100ft wide road with no traffic. ARTO didnt sit next to me, and by the time I got back, he had scooted, possibly to the next bar. I didn't have to do the motorbike test. This is for an original license, and I used it to drive in the UK and still use it for official purposes. *******
Very first day I started my career as a software professional I had to pay a bribe, there wasn't a mistake on my part though. I was the pillion rider and we were driving at 45 km/hr near tidel park, when the traffic police stopped us and told us over speeding. Give me a break how can a 7 year old splendour travel more than 60kmph and this is how I had to pay a bribe of Rs 400.
