Now a days at the mumbai airport the officials on duty have improved their style!! the custom officials do not harass the passengers who hire a porter, they will let him/her pass if their baggage has no mark ( x mark of the scan) on it, which is suppose to be normal rule. but if you do not hire a porter ( who charges not less than 500/- rupees) they will stop u and re-scan you luggage even if your baggage has no x-mark on it. and then they will say you are carrying goods worth more than which you are allowed and force u to pay custom duty or pay bribe secretly.. so since i don't want to pay a bribe i hire a porter at least i feel i am giving him money for his work ( but they all have a deal they all share the money as by rule the porter charges are very less and 500/- is too much for carrying luggage a 100 meters distance that to on a trolley!!!).. ********** **********!!

My Electricity was disconnected for not paying bribe to SDO, But Till today I have never paid any bribe to Traffic Police although I have been fined twice in my 30 years of Driving history. But you can't avoid paying bribes, in some places bribe is institutionalized like Sales Tax/ Vat Department, Development Authorities & Municipal Corporations. No one (ordinary Citizen) can get any thing done from these departments unless he pays them. So dear why you waste time on the question. The bribe is not an under table issue any more. People ask openly and demand it as a right.

Their Director keeps walking daily basis to CMDA seeking the approval document. Now is that my builder says that CMDA demands 5 crores rupees to sanction CC. They said they have agreed to pay coming week and get the CC. My builder says that he has built the apartment and the mall strictly as per the approved plan.

This happended to ne in the mid 90s where I was travelling in the scooter in Chennai near Central station. I crossed a place where I am not supposed to cross and was stopped by a police man. He told me I need to pay a fine of Rs.100/- I said I will pay, how ever he said he can let me off if I pay a BRIBE of Rs.50/- I refused to pay the bribe. He negotiated and offered to take rs. 25/. I still refused. Then he got on the pillion and asked me to go the nearest police station. I started riding to a police station. when we went near a traffic light, he asked me to pay Rs,10/. When, I refused he just got off my bike and walked away..

The moral of the story is even if we made mistake if we are willing to pay for it we DONOT HAVE TO BRIBEANY ONE

When one police officer reached my home for passport verification he firstly asked number of documents, when i show him all the documents he demanded some other documents which is not relevant to passport issuance. Then he start shouting how much time you take to show me the documents. Then after showing all the documents I ask is it ok now? he said "Ab Aap khud hi samajh lo" i asked what , he told " yehi ki saare documents poore hai" then i replied this you have to tell me whether it is ok or not, then he said "agar aapko lagata hai ki saare documents poore hai to theek hai mai to submit kar doonga ab passport issue hota hai ki nahin main nahin jaanta". then i said ok you submit I wil see to it. I was adament to get a DL without paying bribe so I went to RTO and filled the form with the documents. Later the officer asked to come again and again but I did not pay. When I went third time I asked him I need the DL today else let me know the reason in writing. He asked to to drive my car and then issued the DL.

I guess I got it as I was adament to get it without paying bribe. I was jobless that time so I was able to follow up. Now if that happens may be I won't be able to do it.
