The police officer, Mr Magre of Govandi police station, who visited my house to verify my passport application details was very straightforward.

He requested us to come to the police station at 11.oo am the next day, since the register had to be signed.

When we went there at 11.00 am he was waiting for us.
He was very polite, courteous and professional. He completed the formalities in quick time and we thanked him for his help.

He said that the verification would be sent the next day to the CID office and it was done so.

He was more professional than well trained hospitality officers in 5 star hotels !!

I simply refused to pay him and asked him if you will not deliver the passport then better face the complaint which I am going to file against you. The next day he delivered the passport without uttering a word.

Then Police came for verification at home, taken all documents and signature and asked me to visit the police station. At police station sub inspector Veer Singh demanded me verification fees Rs 500 and it is mandatory. I questioned him please show me the rules where it is written that I have to pay for police verification. Then he started making me believe that this fees goes to higher officials for easy process of application. I said I am in no hurry and you please proceed with your pace. But I will not pay a single penny to you. If you show me the rules then I will definitely pay and will ask for receipt also. He looked angrily at me and then said people give money because they are happy that they received the passport. So I said well I am not happy with the system and will not pay you.
He said ok and I came back to home.

When I went to obtain corporation licence for the restaurant, the Medical Officer there Dr Shiva Swamy (Mobile No 9480684211), who limps while walking demanded and took Rs 1 lac from me and additional Rs 5000/- for some other service. Having invested about Rs 35 lakhs I had no other option. Anyway I suffered heavy losses in the hotel business and had to close it down. Bad results and bad experience when you leave your principles. A lesson for every one.
