There is a high degree of corruption in the RDPR Department in spite of many goodpeople within the department. The systems in the department provide a lot of temptation to take bribes. Very few are free from these tendencies. There are corrupt people in the government, and also amongst politicians. However, there are also some very honest people who feel very upset at what is happening today.
About 2500 Project Development Officers (PDOs) were recruited by the government in 2010. Already, 292 have resigned. Many have quit because they could not tolerate the corruption that they saw when they were posted to the field. Sadly, 3 PDOs have also committed suicide.
Many within the system are now very cynical, but the system can be reformed by empowering the good leadership within the government.
Ipaidabribe.com has launched the vertical on rural government corruption with the belief that if we create a network for honest officials to report their bribe experiences in rural development and entitlement programmes, we can increase transparency and accountability, thereby reducing corruption.
Getting the DATA is the first step. PDOs, can now post your experiences about corruption.
