Authoritative Beggars !! The moral crap called POLICE.

Reported on August 17, 2011 from Barrackpur , West Bengal  ι Report #6019

Its 8 months now that have I got into my job in Bangalore having passed my engineering. However, I din't have my passport in hand till then. The application and all formalities other than the police verification to the passport application were done. However, when the time came for the police verification to be done the local police station insisted that I should be present for the same. I complied because that is the degree of security I thought should be maintained for such a highly valued identity card. I had to fly down to Kolkata (N.B. I was just a month into the IT sector and had to fork out more than 12k to get flight tickets overnight, a really difficult thing for a middle class engg. grad to do). I personally visited the police station and guess what the inspector was not ready for anything less than Rs. 2000. Moreover, he wanted it in utter secrecy so that the fellow inspector did not have an idea of the same. I had to pay it for my company demanded for a passport.
I know the officer would never have the unfortunate luck of coming across this article but YOU, the victimised people of India might but ensure that it is AGAINST any law to pay a penny to these government beggars. Man atleast beggars have the courtesy to request not *******

What's your reaction?
