Chandigarh, March 29 (IANS) Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday said his sole aim was to end corruption and give good governance to the state's people.

Attacking the previous Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress government, he said certain people had approached him with offers to follow its "give and take" policy.

"In the very first month of formation of the new (BJP) government, many people came to me with various kinds of offers, wanting me to follow the old 'give-and-take' system," he said, while addressing a gathering after inaugurating a hospital in Sonipat town.

"But I showed them the door, saying our sole aim is to end corruption and give good governance to the people of the state," Khattar said.

The Hooda government, which was in office from March 2005 to October 2014, has been facing flak from the opposition over acquisition of land, granting of change of land use (CLU) and other permissions to colonizers and builders and other scams.

Khattar said his government was committed to breaking the politician, officers and employees nexus for graft. "We will pursue the path of public interest by connecting the whole system with e-governance," he said.

"The aim is to win the trust of people by giving them equal rights. We have to take the state forward in education, health and social sector. We have promised people jobs on merit basis and we are moving fast on this road," he added.

Health Minister Anil Vij said the state government was committed to providing good education and healthcare facilities to the people.

"It is an irony that even today the poor families do not want to get their wards educated in government schools. And a poor son would not like to get his mother treated in government hospital. The previous governments did not pay any heed to this but we will work to change this perception," he said.
