Saradha scam: CBI quizzes P. Chidambaram's wife
New Delhi, Sep 21 (IANS) CBI has questioned senior advocate Nalini Chidambaram, wife of former union finance minister P. Chidambaram, in connection with its ongoing probe into the Rs.10,000 crore Saradha chit fund scam, a probe agency official said Sunday.
The agency questioned Nalini Chidambaram Saturday in Chennai after Saradha group's chief managing director and scam kingpin Sudipto Sen named her to cover him up from a probe then being conducted by market regulator Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI), said CBI sources.
Sen also claimed that Nalini Chidambaram had pressured him to invest in a TV channel.
Sen in his April 2013 letter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had alleged that several people had also blackmailed him and had taken money from him assuring him protection.
The letter mentioned Nalini Chidambaram, who was the lawyer for a deal between Sen and former union minister Matang Sinh and his wife Manoranjana Sinh to buy a channel in the northeast.
It was reported in 2013 that Nalini Chidambaram had been engaged as an advocate to appear on behalf of Manoranjana Sinh and her husband in a company petition filed before the Company Law Board against M/4 Positive TV Ltd.
