A honest decent Traffic Inspector

Reported on February 8, 2011 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #33223

I was stopped on bellary road near yalahanka by one of the traffic patrols who use speed guns. I was doing 93 km/hr. I was overtaking, but following the lane system. They stopped me, I argued with them to show me a board which said the speed limit. The sergent said the limit was 60 for 2 wheelers and 80 for 4-wheelers. I dont know why that stupid rule is used. two wheelers now a days can go at 140 km/hr. There were no boards near by. Then i got to know that my insurance had lapsed two months ago and i had not renewed it. The Sergent asked me for 800 in fines. Then I requested the Inspector saying, Sir "I know I crossed the 4-wheeler speed limit of 80 for that i'm ready to pay the fine of 300/- even though keeping 60 speed for 2-wheelers is stupidtiy on the part of the authorities. I know there was no board at the place u guys are showing. I request you to give me a chance about the insurance I will get it done immediately. I told him how Commisioner ********** ********** had also give a public statement about it." Surprisingly, the Inspector smiled and took only the 300/- and let me go. If he had asked me to show my insurance next day I would have visited his station without hesitation. Coz I got the insurance done the same day. That Inspector needs appreciation.
