It was shameful and shocking to hear the words "Pay maadbeku, 500/- roopayi" when he handed over the certificate to us. My SIL paid it when I was talking on the phone outside the cabin of the clerk, in the last moments . If I had gone inside, probably he would not have asked it.
We entered the premises at 11: 45 A.M. and we had to wait for the procedure to complete by 1.40 P.M. on 23 August, that is today.
Question here is not the money, but the bribe culture which has grown like a monstar, for so many years, is being passed on to new generation of bribe takers and givers, even after 70 years of independence. Is this what we are passing on the culture to our youngsters? that too for a meager sum? They delayed processing the documents first and were closely watching us sitting outside and finally the above incident happens.
I do not know the name of the clerk or the lady who sits next to him or the boss, all are involved in this, I suppose.
Shame, shame , shame on our Karnataka Govt.,
