Getting Khatha done on land purchased 13 years ago (All Clean Papers)

Reported on July 1, 2015 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #62558

Govindappa from the Assistant Revenue Office on Begur Road Bommannahalli, Bangalore. My intention was to get the Khatha certificate for the land that I had purchased via power of attorney while I was out of the country. The purchase happened 13 years ago and all the paperwork was done and clean except I hadn't applied for a Khatha certificate. Now that I am back in the country, I wanted to apply for one. The officer hyped up the effort involved in searching for these "old" papers so that the Khatha can be given. He said he'd have to grease a few other palms to get this going. He said it would take at least 30-45 days for the entire thing to be done. After the payment of Rs 2000 miraculously the khatha was available within 48 hours.

I went in on April 13, 2015 around 10.30 AM. I got the Khatha certificate couple of days later.
