I wanted to avoid paying bribe for a newly acquired property, electricity bill name change. When the electrician asked 5000 Rs, i refused to pay. So after several attempts trying to find out where exactly I can go to have it sorted and what documents I needed , I drove to the subdivision office with relevant documents. There, I was asked 3000 Rs. When I asked how it accounts for 3000, I was told that there is a lot of work involved etc. By this time I was frustrated enough, so ended up negotiating and paying 1000 extra other than the fee.
