I paid a bribe for registration of property that was legitimately purchased by my family at the Greater Noida Authority. At the Greater Noida Authority bribes are taken in the open, and transactions cannot be completed without bribery. The exact amount is not known to me as it did not pass from my hand. The financial agent who helped with purchase of the property also took charge of paying the bribe. I saw and photographed the transactions. Any journalist wishing to verify this situation could come to the Greater Noida Authority. As I am an OCI and do not live in the country, I did not have a chance to file an FIR. My departure date was the following day and I was told that if the registration was not done someone else could fraudulently lay claim to our home.
