Passport Verification Bribe : Kadugodi/Bangalore

I was asked to pay a bribe by the police in-charge at Kadugodi Police station to draft a letter in Kannada (I can't write Kannada) towards police verification. When asked what he meant in terms of "amount **********" - he said "you can give anything" - in the end a sum of Rs. 500/- was paid to ensure I got my work done immediately.
