On 13-07-14 early morning i was stopped at Airoli toll naka (7:20 am eastern express side ), by local police, NOT RTO , who demanded to see my bike papers, i showed them the Puc and insurance copy of the bike i was riding.The Insurance was in soft copy a pdf on email - which the officer refused to accept as a document and pressed charges against me and wanted to confiscate my bike, after spending about 45 minutes in complete futile discussion with him he took 400 rupees and asked me to leave.
This was not the end, i was then followed again by a couple of beat marshals on bike on the other side of the the Airoli bridge , who presumably had been informed by the same police on wakie takie, and they stopped me again and checked my bags and asked bike papers and i had to spend another 45 minutes with them had to shell out 300 Rs to them ( " unko kitna diya - hum ko bhi utna chaiyee " - exact words by the guy ) in another futile discussion and out of sheer desperation to end matters and prevent myself as being labelled as a criminal of any sort i had to pay them. The worst part of this was all this took place inside the police station premises where i was forced to go, because one of the beat marshal insisted that he rode pillion on my bike and i silently drive to his directions.
everything said and done - i realized that the innocent citizens out of sheer desperation to prevent being harassed have to end up paying money to police in various situations.
