I applied for a re-issue of passport due to change in address after my marriage and addition of spouse name. I applied at PSK - Ghaziabad; File Number - XXXXXXXXXXX
This is to bring to your kind notice that the local police verification person allotted did not visit our locality or contacted any references I had mentioned in my application. On Sunday - 17th January, 2016, i received a call on my mobile number at around 1930 hrs to visit the Sector 6 Police Chowki - behind Ramprastha Greens, Vaishali Ghaziabad along with my identity proofs. The person mentioned he was the TALUKA of the chowki when asked for his name.
I visited the chowki the next morning - Monday, 18th Jan 2016 - 8.30 a.m. with my husband.The taluka greeted us and asked to submit our documents. He was not wearing any name tally on his uniform, hence we couldn't identify his name. When all documents were submitted to his good satisfaction, we thanked him and got up to leave. He stopped us and asked to pay - KHANA PAANI. This isn't new to us being residents of NCR, so we smiled and tried to avoid paying any bribe. We mentioned, this was only a re-issue of passport & he should not be asking us any bribe. He insisted that we pay him Rs 1500/- When we said we do not have that much cash with us, he directed to a nearby ATM & asked to get the cash asap.
Though we paid it out of paucity of time and we clearly did not want to get into a hassle early morning, it was very embarrassing to see such state of the affairs in our locality. We being conscious citizens, decided to raise this issue through this forum
