Went throught the agent

I bought a pre-owned motor vehicle and we approached a agent for transfer of the registration. I didn't have an address proof which they would accept as per the rules and had to approach the agent. He gave a split up of amounts to be paid at each desk and totaled the amount to 1700. From what I understand without the bribes it should cost 400 - 500. So the rest 1k+ amount is the bribe I paid.

I felt so terrible and low on dignity after I did this. Now, I am planning to buy a house and want to put a good fight and be honest at least in this case. Hope I will succeed.
