Things to Know on Traffic Offences and Respective Penalties

Indian road rules, entitled as “Rules of the Road Regulations”, came into effect in July, 1989 and is aimed at ensuring an orderly traffic and a safer journey. The violation of the laws under this Act is punishable as per city-specific traffic police rules and the Motor Vehicle Act, 1989.

For better enforcement of these rules ‘challans’ are issued by police in the name of offenders. Follow the chart to know more on the possible offences and respective penalties.
