License to run a takeaway food shop
I have a small food takeaway shop that has been running for 1 year in South Delhi. I do not have a license to run this establishment and when i have gone to get one, the officials ask for bribe or discourage me from getting the license stating "why are you bothering? then you will have to renew it each year for which you will have to bribe someone...and you will be hounded by the inspectors frequently asking for bribes".
Because i dont have a license the police fine me and ask for regular bribes... I am caught between a rock and a hard place... either way I am hounded for bribes by one arm of the law or administration.
My only choices are to break the law by running a unlicensed establishment OR break the law by paying bribes OR use the 'pull' of someone influential OR give up and lose my livelihood. I dont know how I will survive this systemic strangulation.
