Official Wanting a bribe
I have my ancestral home in VPO Naringwal in the Ludhiana district and on my last visit went transfer the electricity supply into my name.
The only one person in charged of this had asked for certain papers. I was lucky to have an honest Sarpanch who arranged these for me, however I was indebted to him and the red tape also meant it took me a week to obtain these. When these were finally presented to the electricity official on my second visit he then turned around and asked for the same but older papers relating to my ancestors and not the current ones.
I am sure this would not have happened if i had offered to pay a bribe which i was informed about by the locals.
Anyway my two week vacation was over and I returned empty handed but not without this bitter experience.
I plan to record our conversations the next time.
