Resisted demand of a Monthly payout the Area Traffic *******
We started a shared cab service at Delhi Airport. The local traffic constable asked for a monthly Hafta of Rs. 5000/- to permit cabs to ply. On refusal, he started identifying flimsy grounds for stopping the cars. The worst case was where he checked the driver for wearing slip ons and not shoes with laces. We however continued to comply with all the norms laid out. Finally he had no reason to challan the cars and started halting them for checking for over an hour each.
We started writing complaints to various authorities in the police department. It did take time, but the effort was well worth it. The concerned constable was suspended and we managed to conduct business without having to give in to a demand for bribe.
