Normally, a birth certificate is issued after police verification. This is a corruption prone process, particularly as the police and revenue officials have wide discretion to cause mischief, file a false report or cause interminable delay.



pleasefile an application for your birth certificate. In case the mandal office says that it is not available, please apply for a fresh birth certificate on the basis of police verification. At every step, please be prepared for delays. Please file RTI applications asking for the details in case of details, Also it is worth filing a grievance in the District Collector's office, if the MRO is delaying matters.

Hello Sir, I tried getting my birth certificate few years back and gave up after trying few times. I was born in a village in rural Andhra Pradesh. Mandal office says my birth was not registered there without even searching for the certificate. I'm in US and its very difficult to get things in India done from here over phone/online . I didn't find any online applications to get this done. My grand parents say if we bribe the officials, things might get done. I would like to know whats the process without giving a bribe i) to do make the mandal office do a search for birth certificate ii) to get a new birth certificate if my birth is not registered.
