Strictly speaking, any modification to an existing building requires BBMP's approval. But normally BBMP doest not insist on approvals if it involves only internal modifications. However, when such repairs is carried out, if the immediate neighbours complain of noise/dust blockage of passage storing of materials on road etc, BBMP may intervene. It is better to keep the BBMP informed about such modifications through a letter.
To your second question, there is not ned to get approval from BBMP to put upa temporary tarpaulin overed shed on your roof.
If there are only internal changes from your plan, BBMP does not usually mind that. This will not effect your request for getting the approval for the additional constructions.
