Land records survey numbers

Reported on August 21, 2011 from Kollam , Kerala  ι Report #4321

I needed to know from land records held at the village office the old survey number correspoding to the new one that was on the current tax receipt. A clerk came up with a bound of paper from a heap of loose old papers. That happened to be the register for the numbers. We looked up the number as it was waiting for the next clerk to look up the number. They have the system in such a mess only they will be able to look up even such a trivial information. The second clerk confirmed that indeed was the right number. I did not think that I had to pay him for the that. I said thank you. He did not look at me. I might have to come back for something else therefore I offered Rs 100 for which he gave me a greedy grin.

We had earlier bribed him for the getting the survey done. He had to give us a map of the survey after the survey is done. He did not give this and will need another bribe to get that out of him.
