Paid bribe to police for Passport verification

Reported on November 21, 2017 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #171560

I received a call from Bommanahalli police station today for verification of documents for reissue of my passport which has expired recently. There was a change in the address of my passport. The police office called me to visit the police station with all the documents that I had showed at the passport seva kendra for re-verification (not sure why is that required to be done again, when it has already been verified at PSK). The officer gave me a form to fill in my current address and phone number along with my signature. Also, he asked for a passport size photograph, I was not informed earlier that a photo was also required, I always carry a passport size photo in my wallet so it came in handy. The officer told to send a full length photo of mine taken inside my residence to his whatsapp number, again no information about this was shared in prior. Then he stared at my face to do the needful! I could understand he was waiting for me to pay up, but I pretended to be unaware of what his intention were, and asked if it was fine for me to leave. Then he came out asking for the FEES upfront! I thought there you go, and handed over a 500 rupee bill , asking if that should be fine. He was like, give 200 more! I smiled at myself and handed over 200 rupees more.
