Mulayam soft on criminals: Modi

Etawah (Uttar Pradesh), April 18 (IANS) BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Friday lashed out at the Samajwadi Party and the Congress and blamed them for the ills plaguing Uttar Pradesh and the nation.

Addressing an election rally in Bharthana, in the home district of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, the Gujarat chief minister said time has come to change the government at the centre and punish politicians who have betrayed the aspirations of the people.

He said the Congress-led UPA government at the centre has become history much before the nation voted to elect the next government.

Targeting the SP chief, Modi said he was soft on criminals and the state has become haven to criminals. People living on small budgets were being forced to buy arms to keep themselves safe.

He also said the BSP was busy making "elephant parks" and the SP government was busy in a "lion safari". Nobody was interested in safeguarding the humans in the state.

"I don't say you vote for us again and again but at least give us one chance to realise the dreams that you have seen..." he added.

Modi also took a dig at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and said the Gandhi scion had no idea of what poverty was.
