I told him I am not going anywhere. If I have to pay the fine issue me the receipt with exact details and I will pay it.

Reported on October 28, 2013 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #37003

A similar incident happened to me in daylight near RT nagar bus depot. I was getting my car serviced and I cam out to have a smoke ,near the cigarette shop. A cop came on his chetah bike ( i think he was just going through that road) , he stopped in front of me and asked me in Kannada what I am doing here , I do not understand kannada . I replied back in english stating Sir I do not understand Kannada well but I think you are asking what I am doing here ? He said Yes, so I replied I have given my car for servicing in the service station next door. His next question was where do I stay . I told him nearby in Jakkur.
His tone changed suddenly he asked me If i have read supreme court order , I said for what. He said with regard to smoking in public places and I was not allowed to smoke within 100 ft of bus stop , school or hospital , so I told him there is none of them nearby , to my surprise he said bus depot is a bus stand. This pissed me of and I told him if he has read the order carefully and he said yes, so I told him that cigarette shops are also not allowed and here there is a cigarette shop and a wine shop next to it.
He said I need to come to the police station , I told him I am not going anywhere. If I have to pay the fine issue me the receipt with exact details and I will pay it but I will not go anywhere. He looked at me for sometime and than said I can leave.
