Reported on April 18, 2014 from Warangal , Telangana  ι Report #40434

Of late, one candidate is contesting from two constituencies, both for parliament or one for parliament and the other for assembly. If he/she happens to win both seats, they resign for one of them.Crores of public money spent for that constituency goes waste and the voters have to vote again in the reelection/by election and the govt.employees are given a holiday for voting for which the salaries are paid.
some are resigning in favour of a leader of his party and some more are resigning after challenging the opponents(like Telangana Rashtra Samithi in AP).In this case also similar wastage of public money takes place.
Hence, I feel that one candidate should not be allowed to contest from 2 places and those resigning should not be allowed to contest any election for next 6 years.I want to file a PIL in AP high court. Can you please, tell me what would be cost of filing PIL? Can I get legal assistance from any advocate or any NGO? Is there any alternative to PIL or legal process such as approaching the ECI etc.

What's your reaction?
