My first step towards real India

Police men came to my house for passport verification purposes. They asked me 500 rupees. i had just completed my school that time so didn't know how to bargain, i had to pay 500. Then I went to police station and Inspector asked me how much you paid those low rank police officers so they don't lie to him and can distribute equally. I feel so down thinking of that. I am living in Europe and only thing i feel good about is i don't have to pay bribe.
