Needed quick passport

I needed to get my passport as soon as possible and it was stuck at the Police station for verification. I went to the station twice to get the guy to process my report faster, since I had heard that if you go personally, they would come with you and verify your address and the file would be cleared faster.

It did not work the first two times I went (usual excuses like 'The file is not here', 'Just received the file, there is a huge backlog' etc). The guy in charge was not the the third time I went, so I got his subordinate to come with me to my house. And when the visit was done, he automatically extended his hand with a smile on his face.

I had told myself that I would never pay a bribe, but I had no choice but to pay the bribe, else lose out on a passport, a visa, and an overseas trip.

Never again though.
