Paid INR 1000 to a traffic police at Dera Bassi check post while coming from Delhi to Chandigarh

Dear Sir,

Today (Monday, 29th Dec 2014) I was coming from Delhi to Chandigarh in my Suzuki Grand Vitara (DL2C P2165). when i reach the Derra Bassi traffic police chowki, one inspector waved his hand to stop me. i thought it would be a general routine checkup so i stopped my car . he then asked me for my Driving license, Car RC, Insurance and pollution certificate. i showed him all the docs. then he said that you are not authorized to drive this vehicle as your DL is not for this. FYI my DL reads LMV-NT ; which means i can drive any car, jeep, suv for non tansport purpose. but at that time i was little confused. so he took benefit of that and he threatened me for challaan of INR2000. than I asked him to show where it is mentioned that this DL is not valid for this car. then he threatened me and said that he would impound my DL and then i will have to go to the court to get it back. as i was getting late for my office so i asked him now what can be done. he directly said that give me INR 1000 (as bribe) . As i was getting late so i said ok. and i gave him INR 1000.

but this is absolutely ridiculous to threaten people and extract money from them. I got totally irritated with this. despite having all the docs i had to pay INR 1000 to them. please do something as this is the second time for me at the same place.
