The Trade Unions Act, 1926 provides for the registration of Trade Unions and define the law relating to Registered Trade Unions. As per the Act, any seven or more members of a Trade Union may, by subscribing their names to the rules of the Trade Union can apply for registration of the Trade Union.

 

A Trade Union shall be entitled to register under this Act, if it complies with the following requirements and rules:

 

 (a) name of the Trade Union;

 

 (b) objects and purposes for which the Trade Union has been established;

 

 (c) maintenance of a list of the members of the Trade Union and the manner in which the rules shall be amended, varied or rescinded; and the members of the executive and the other office-bearers of the Trade Union as to how they shall be appointed and removed;

 

(d) Covering Letter from the Union Head, Original Challan copy, bye-laws of the Trade Union, both in English and the native language of Cuddalore, minutes of the First General Body Meeting with signatures and the address of the workers (Original / Certified Copy), authentic identity cards of Office Bearers, Bank Pass Book with Account Number of the Union.

 

The Registrar, on then being satisfied that the Trade Union has complied with all the requirements of the Act in regard to registration, shall register the Trade Union by entering in a register.
