Bribe for Tampered silencer for my Bike

I was caught by a police for the tampered silencer fit into my bike. I was told that the fine amount is Rs.1200 asked to bribe Rs.500. At that time I was not aware that the actual fine itself is only Rs.100, but out of urgency I paid Rs.250 and left.
