Harassment at Local Takeaway Restaurant

Reported on June 13, 2017 from Hyderabad , Telangana  ι Report #165092

On the 13th of June 2017 at about 1 pm, two plain-clothed police officers pulled up in front of a takeaway restaurant (RV Spice KPHB Plot No. MIG-13/1, Opposite Kalanjali Showroom, JNTU Road, KPHB Colony, Hyderabad, Telangana 500072) in a marked police car (TS09PA2296). They entered the restaurant and demanded a list of items from the hotel owner (Chickcen Curry, Vegetables etc.) The restaurant owner (Mr Raju) knowing that these officers would not pay for the items refused to hand over the items for free.

The police officers reacted to this by harassing the restaurant owner and threatening to call their superior (Circle Inspector of KPHB - Mr Subbharaju). They then proceeded to speak to the owner extremely rashly and carried through with their threat. They rung up the CI and forced the owner to speak on the phone with him. Following this threat, the helpless owner was left with no choice but to hand over the list of items to the two police officers.

This is not a one-off incident. Mr Raju stated that these officers frequently visit his shop and demand free food. He stated that if he fails to give into their demands, they harass him. This is nothing but clear and open corruption and theft. Action MUST be taken against such thieves who masquerade as public servants. This may be corruption at the lowest level but this impacts the ordinary citizen the most.

(Note: I have photos of the car parked outside the restaurant and in addition, the restaurant owner is ready to testify)

What's your reaction?
