Chandigarh, Sep 18 (IANS) The opposition SAD and BJP on Tuesday demanded the dismissal of the Congress government in Punjab, it of colluding with radicals to destabilise peace in the state.

A joint delegation of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and BJP leaders met Governor V.P. Singh Badnore and sought the state government's dismissal for what they said was "violating the oath of office by conspiring with radical elements".

The delegation demanded a CBI inquiry to unmask the conspiracy to destabilise peace and communal harmony in Punjab.

The delegation led by SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal and BJP state President Shwet Malik urged the Governor to direct the state to take strict action against self-styled jathedars (Sikh leaders) who they claimed were dancing to the tunes of anti-national forces and conspiring to push the state back into turmoil.

"The delegation requested the Governor to direct the Congress government not to create a false religious conflict, saying it will be detrimental to the hard-won peace in Punjab," a SAD spokesman said.
