Bribe for Application form Filling to pay Tax
Today on April 27th I had been to BBMP Ward No 1 office at Jalahalli Village to pay my property tax for year 2011-12. I asked lady a computer operator to help me in filling the application form as I was lack of information about some columns printed on it. She demaned / insited to pay Rs 50/- for each application and she had been collecting it from others. I strongly opposed to her demand and she replied saying it was not her duty to help people in filing the application form. I protested to complain the issue to the higher authorities and she said pls go and do. I just returned back with not paying the bribe and I paid my tax online.
The system is so demanding that even if you protest against it, the authorities are least concerned. The corruption has been so deeply rooted in the sytem its too hard to remove the branches of it from the bottom. But thanks to the technology it made my life easier to pay the tax.
