Corrupt Appraiser - Veerappa Reddy, ICD Bangalore
Our Shipment had come from China on 20th July 2019. Appraiser along with CHA nexus tried to extract 3 lac cash from us by putting our product in a wrong tariff that would make us pay 8 Lac Duty as compared to actual Slab that would entitle us to pay 1.5 Lac Duty. The difference of 6 lac was demanded as Cash payment from Appraiser through CHA. After weeks of negotiating and loosing orders of 20 lac, our patience ran thin. We decided to meet the Joint Commissioner in person and explained him the whole ordeal. A Written complaint was given to Joint commissioner to take action on the same. Joint commissioner ensured the issue is cleared same day and we got container next day.
CHA and Appraiser has threatened us that if we report this issue to any other person in customs, they will ensure that none of our Future shipments will be spared and they will take revenge. We have a 0 Tolerance to Bribe and we wrote into CBI and Anti Corruption Bureau New Delhi. I was disgusted by the Audacity of Appraiser Veerappa Reddy on how seamlessly they seek Bribe. Lets get this illiterate officers highlighted and get them punished.
