Excise Barrier at Cheekala Bailu collecting money from other state vehicles
I have been travelling since 2010 from Bangalore to Madanapalle in AP. Just before entering Madanapalli, a place called Cheekalabailu has got few barriers such as Excise, Police etc., I was travelling in a taxi from Bangalore. When we reached the barrier they stopped the vehicle looking at its registration no. being from Karnataka. I asked the driver as to why the vehicle was stopped. Driver said it is customary they stop the vehicle and ask for all kinds of papers, if a bribe of Rs 100 per vehicle is paid, then no body asks for any papers other wise they will dealy in ordinately and leave the vehicle.
Its happening even now, i really wonder what the ACB at Madanapalle and other agencies nearby are doing, as it is collected unabated even now. Today also they stopped the vehicle, but the driver being a local from Madanapalle (AP) didnt stop the vehicle. I thing if surprise raids are made on that by a transparent agency , it can be stopped. Hope, some thing will come out soon.
