"Fees" for not doing his job
After months of waiting for the HSR Layout police to come home for passport verification, we decided to walk in to the police station to enquire about verification status. The police then dug into their records for our passport details and a lady police officer did the verification at the station itself. When we were leaving, the superintendent asked me to give "something" as "fees". Shocked, I retorted saying that HE should be giving me Fees instead, because he had failed to come home and do his job and that I had done it for him instead and we left in a huff. As we stepped out, we were gripped by a fear that the police guy would take his sweet revenge on us by not processing the passport. Thankfully, after a 2 week "bated breath" wait, the passport came in the mail.
