How not to pay indirect bribes
My son went to RTO (he has just turned 18 years a few days back). From there he called to tell me that a tout was guaranteeing him a license in 10 mins, for Rs.300/-. I explained to him that if he paid the tout, part of that money would go to the RTO inspector (hence the "guarantee"). I told him to do that which he thought fit. I am proud to say that he opted not to use the tout and he obtained his license.
The RTO is one place where you CAN get your work done, most times, if you have a little bit of patience. There is no need to pay any bribes there (this statement holds for Pune RTO. I cannot comment about other cities).
