About 25 years ago, I went to Mayo Hall to pay my residential property tax. The clerk after checking the books, suggested I pay him 300/500 (I now forget exactly how much) and he would reduce my liability in the register by some amount payable in subsequent years. There were about 20 other clerical staff in the room, and in a very loud voice, I asked them if they were getting their share of the goodies from this clerk? The guy promptly issued me my receipt for the correct amount at lightening speed!!! I once had a boss who advised me that the only way to discipline an Indian, is to publicly humiliate him, or hit him in the hip pocket !! Believe me....the guy was right....and it also works !!
