Ill-effects of not paying the bribe.
I went to sector-50 looking for house for rent with my wife and property broker in a santro car. THe year was 2008. We checked the appartment and when came back , my santro car was stolen. Sector-49 Police station did registered the case and appointed a SI for investigation. SI went with me to crime scene , took testimony of property-broker and others from the society. He knew that for claiming the insurance final report from him is mandatory. So he asked for 10,000-20,000 for all the efforts he needed to find the car. He kept troubling me for three months but didnt gave me the final report.After 3 months i recieved notice from court about closure of case with final report . AND IT WAS SHOCK TO READ IT.
Final R from SI said that i had registered a false case to get the insurance and car was not stolen from place as mentioned in FIR.
I thank the "bajaj Allianz " insurance company for that they investigated themselves and believed that car was stolen. They paid me the insurance amount , though they deducted 10% for no Final- report.
I guess , i learnt the lesson on ill-effects of not paying bribe - 4 months of agony + false case against you.
Its not like that i have not paid bribe earlier to govt officials , be it passport, property-registrar and many others. But this was the first time i felt good for resisiting it.
