Marriage Certificate Attested but being held
My marriage was registered under the Special Marriages Act in Noida, UP. The registration process was smooth. However, since I needed the certificate attested I sent it to Lucknow to get it attested on April 19th, 2011. The attestestion was done. And a letter was sent to the DM's office in Greater Noida stating that it has been dispatched.
However, it failed to reach Noida! A clerk in Lucknow refused to send the certificate back to Greater Noida (which is where I am supposed to collect it from). He even openly demanded 3000 rupees. We sent someone to talk to him and collect the certificate. He refused to show us the certificate even! We refused to pay the bribe.
But as of now, my certificate is still stuck in Lucknow. It has been attested but it hasn't been dispatched. Stuck in this horrible situation for the last 3 months!
