No Money, No Bribe
I had applied for a passport renewal. The renewal rules states that you can renew your passport anytime from 1 year before it expires. If the passport expires and you did not renew it for next 2 years or there is a change in address, police re-verification takes place. As a matter of fact, police do get a copy for validating your address which is submitted while renewing.
My passport was having 6 months of life when I applied for its renewal. After 43 days I had received a copy at my home. At the same time, police had called up my residence to produce myself at the police station for verification. They did not tell that I have to bring 2 witness as it happens while issuing fresh passport.
I reached police station. I was smelling some rat there, and he told me, u are called for verification. You need not worry as it is not a lengthy process, they will shorten it for me for some Rs.500
I said, i have received the passport. Its in my possession. You want witness, I have 2 guys waiting outside. You want money, i dont have any to give to you. If you need my signature, tell me where shall I. He went pale. His co-partner said... you can leave. Thank you.
