Persistance pays

Reported on October 17, 2011 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #31483

All,
I have built my house on a 100*55 plot at BEL Layout,Vidyaranyapura, Bangalore. Right from the begining I was particular that I will not neither violate any norms ( Bye-Law) nor pay bribe to get the necessary approval.

I made up my mind that I will go and ********** every single official/office that is responsibile for issuing various approvals. I had to do the following...

1. obtain encumberance certificate
2. Obtain BBMP Khatha
3. Plan approval Saction
4. Road cutting permission
5. Water and Electrical connection ( yet to be done )

I met the official, explained them my stand and convinced them that I am CLEAN. It took 3 or 4 visits to complete each one of the above tasks but it worked like a charm. After all, I can proudly say that BBMP( Bangalore ) is not corrupt as people think they are. As long as your case is genuine and you take pain in going thru the process you will come thru CLEAN.

Take this last example of Road cutting permission. My contractor said, for a house as big as mine I am expected to shell out Rs.15,000. I refused and collected the paper work from him and visited BBMP office near Vidyaranyapura Last bus stop. There were various touts in the office who offered my same day approval for Rs.25,000. I rejected all of them and insisted that I ********** the Assistant and Junior Engineer.

I met Mr. Deva ********** and his superior Mr. ********** and explained them how my house has been constructed within the norms. They were busy due to AADHAR card issuance project and the festival holidays didn't help me much. After 3 or 4 visits, Engineer visited my site and took measurement. The same day I was asked to give the DD to cover the road cutting cost.

Only thing they insisted is that that debris on the road is to be removed prior to issuance of permission, which I obliged.

Friends, if you follow the norms, there is no scarcity of good officers. You can be proud of not contributing to the corruption.

I thank the BBMP officers who helped in the process.

Regards

Vidyaranyapura, *******
