I applied for renewal of my passport on 21-Jan-2015 at the Passport Seva Kendra at Rubi, Kolkata. I was given an acknowledgement letter with File Number CA2078233580915. The next day I received an email from the passport office that the police verification request has been initiated under district police headquarter Barrackpore and Baranagar police station. On 28-Jan 8.31pm, I received a call from the Baranagar Police station asking me to report to the police station will all my documents on 31-Jan-2015 5.45pm. On 31-Jan-2015, I received another call from the same person asking me to come at 4.30pm instead. I went there and after collecting all my documents from me, he blatantly asked me what arrangement did I have for sweets? I asked him to clarify. He said that everyone gives something for passport verification, so I should also give something. I asked if I will get any receipt. He started laughing. So, I said that I can not pay anything without a receipt. He angrily asked me to leave. Unfortunately, I was not able to find the name of the officer. Now, I feel scared that I will not get my passport soon. My job requires me to go abroad often, and not having a passport for a long time will hamper my work.
