Was asked rs.500 for a new connection
We had applied for a new connection for our new home.there was no response from the authorities for the connection for almost 20days.we checked with the officials there as all the required documents were in order.the officer gave irresponsible answer that the wire required for giving the connection was over.(MSEB does not have 10 feet of wire for 15 days?Do they think people are mad?)We inquired the wireman there and he said we will have to pay Rs 1000 to the officer and then he will initiate the process.My father clearly argued there and the wireman came down to Rs.500.
I had a friend whose father was at a higher post in MSEB, I contacted him and to our surprise we had a power connection in the next hour.
If I had no contact I would have been forced to pay the bribe as the construction work was halted and would have incurred much more financial loss than Rs.500.
There should be fixed time lines set for all the government work similar to private sector.there should be proper ticketing system to monitor timeline violation and proper fine should be imposed if those time lines were missed regularly.
