Asked to pay a bribe for domicile certificate in Mumbai, did not pay, 2 months later no domicile certificate
I went to apply for a domicile certificate two months back. While I was in queue to submit the form, a person came to me and asked for money for quick processing of domicile certificate. I did not pay. And now two months after application and 5 visits, I still do not have a domicile certificate. What should I do? Where do I go for help?
I was born in Mumbai, and have stayed all my life (25 years) in Mumbai. I have a birth certificate. residence proof of 15 years back, father is domiciled in Maharashtra. I have submitted all these and other documents that were asked of me.
To hide my identity, I wont say what the current demand is, but there are new document requirements everytime I visit.
Whom should I ask for help? Are there any NGO's or good people who can help me. I don't want to pay a bribe.
